Catholics United to Peter

Mission Statement
Catholics United to Peter Society (CUPS) pledge to support our bishops and priests in ensuring the celebration of the most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist will be, and remain true to the teachings and discipline of our faith as are clearly defined in the Redemptionis Sacramentum and the General Instructions of the Roman Missal.

Objectives
The recent instruction on the discipline of the sacrament of the Eucharist, Redemptionis Sacramentum, 2004, confirmed that any Catholic has the right to forward a complaint regarding liturgical abuses to Diocesan Bishops or to the Apostolic See. CUPS (Catholics United to Peter Society) was organized to protect the uniformity of the celebration of the Eucharist, and insure such celebrations are in harmony with the teachings of our Pope.

This will be done by providing for members of the faithful an avenue whereby their concerns may be brought forward and handed in a confidential and systematic manner.

Procedures
Should a member of the faithful become aware of an infraction or an obvious and continuous variant from the norm in the celebration of the Eucharist, he or she is encouraged to notify the CUPS office in his or her diocese. To promote good will and foster harmony with our priests, and avoid causing any conflict within a parish, CUPS will first bring the issue to the attention of the officiating priest, without revealing the source of the complaint. Should no response be received within a reasonable time period (three weeks), the issue will then be brought to the attention of the Diocesan Bishop. Should the matter not be addressed at this level, again within a reasonable time frame (six weeks), notification will be passed on to the Apostolic See.

Complaints must be received in writing, stating clearly the nature of the error or omission, the date, the parish, and the priest involved. The complainant must include his or her name, a return address and sign the complaint.

CUPS will notify the complainant in writing of the action taken in regard to his or her concern. Except for this notice, no further follow-up with the individual is seen as necessary.

Prayer for Priests
O Almighty God, look upon the face of your Son, and for the love of Him who is the Eternal High Priest, have pity on your priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to you, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests; for your unfaithful and tepid priests; for your tempted priests: for your lonely and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests; for the souls of your priests in purgatory. O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and eternity. Amen
